Oman road accidents drop 71% in last five years

In 2020, only 1,341 accidents were reported compared to 4,721 in 2016.

MUSCAT : The number of road accidents in Oman has significantly dropped to 71 per cent in the last five years, according to the figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The data issued by the centre reveal that from 4,721 accidents in 2016 , the traffic related accidents dropped to 1,341 in 2021. As per the downward trend, figures show there were 2,120 accidents by the end of 2019, 2,800 accidents in 2018 and 3,800 in 2017. “The number of traffic accidents in the Sultanate decreased by 71.6 percent during the last five years, reducing from 4,721 accidents in 2016 to 1,341 accidents in 2020,” NCSI said in report.
