MUSCAT: In line with the bank’s vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’, Meethaq Islamic Banking from Bank Muscat has announced that customers can purchase gift cards for popular online platforms through its Mobile Banking application. Customers can purchase digital gift cards in different denominations not only for themselves, but also for their loved ones. Gift cards for PlayStation (Oman and US), Google Play (US), iTunes (US), Steam (MENA) are offered in denominations ranging from $10 to $100 while gift cards for X-Box (Oman and US) are offered in denominations ranging from $15 to $50. In addition, gift cards for PlayStation and X-Box subscription are also available on the app.
Meethaq is the only bank to offer this facility in Oman and this proves the bank’s commitment towards offering an attractive value proposition for its customers. It is worth noting that customers using this service transact in a safe manner given that they do not need to register or share their debit / credit card details with any online service provider over the internet.
Meethaq’s Mobile Banking app is available in both Arabic and English and helps customers maintain social distancing as it offers easy remote access to many banking services. Downloading and using the app is also simple and easy. Customers can use their Meethaq Debit Card number and PIN to register on the platform and gain instant access to all the services. The state-of-the-art application can be downloaded from Play Store or App Store for android and apple based devices respectively.

The app offers a number of novel features such as ‘Tap and Pay’ – NFC based transfers, which allow customers with Android smartphones to transfer funds by just tapping their phones, thereby creating a unique experience for the customer. Customers can also use the app to perform their daily banking transactions, which include payment of utility bills online, accessing account balance, viewing statements, transfer funds to their own accounts or other accounts holders within Meethaq, transfer funds to accounts domestically or outside of Oman, block their debit card or request for a cheque book. Additional features of the app includes the inbuilt Zakat calculator, which allows customer to calculate and pay their Zakat online easily and a payment option, which allows customers to make Waqf and Sadaqah contributions online.
