MUSCAT: Oman is beginning to see the third wave of coronavirus outbreak and the responsibility lies with everyone to reduce the rise in infections, according to a top Ministry of Health official.
Speaking in an interview with Oman TV, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Hosni, Undersecretary for Health Affairs said 70 percent of the population will be vaccinated by the end of this year. In the last few weeks, Oman has seen a rise in coronavirus cases with an average of 500 positive cases reported daily. “We are beginning to see the third wave. Daily cases are increasing and everyone must abide to reduce these infections,” he said.
“By end of June, 30% of the population will be vaccinated and by end of the year 70% of total population will get the vaccination,” Al Hosni informed.

The Ministry of Health has so far vaccinated over 90,000 people in the country. “The vaccines are safe and very effective in preventing entry to intensive care, and all indications are indicating that,” Al Hosni added.
