MUSCAT : For the first time, the Ministry of Labour held its press conference last week to unveil its plan including new policies.
Dr. Mahad Said Ba’Owain, Minister of Labour, said that the press conference aimed to explain some aspects related to the Ministry’s plan of action over the next period, as well as cooperation with other sectors, with the prime objective of providing employment opportunities for citizens.
Speaking to a prominent Arabic news radio, Sheikh Nasr Amor Al Hosni, Under-Secretary of Ministry of Labour said that the press conference is aimed at getting closer to people. “We are a service ministry and we have nothing to hide,” Al Hosni said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has formed a working team tasked with diagnosing and addressing labour market challenges. “One of key highlights of the 2021 plan is to make private sector companies aware of recruiting quality skilled Omani workers who are cost effective compared to expatriate workers,” Al Hosni added.
