Oman’s Supreme Committee warns against COVID-19 complacency; says many people are still gathering illegally

MUSCAT: Supreme Committee on Sunday said urged people not to be complacent in the fight against COVID-19.

The statement from the committee comes after it observed that an “a number of citizens and residents are not adhering to the precautionary measures including not wearing masks.”

The committee also said “some people are holding social gatherings in large numbers in tents and other places. This may cause the virus to spread in the community,” the statement added.

The committee also directed authorities to take strict action against coronavirus rule breakers “in order to protect community from the disease.”

Meanwhile, SC also decided to close the land borders for one week starting from January 18 in the wake of new strain COVID-19. The closure maybe extended according to the situation.

Close
