MUSCAT : The new Basic Law will keep pace with future visions and expectations, His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik said on Monday.
Addressing the Council of Ministers at Al Barakah Palace on the Accession Day, His Majesty said the Basic Law will also set a specific mechanism for smooth and stable transfer of power.
Within the context of His Majesty the Sultan’s attention and follow-up of the government’s performance in all units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, the Basic Law of the State dedicated a full chapter to the follow-up of progress of work in government units.

The new Basic Law creates a committee under the Sultan to evaluate the performance of ministers and other officials, and provisions to support the state’s financial and administrative oversight body.
Following His Majesty’s conviction in the significance of the role of the Council of Oman and in its valuable contribution to the comprehensive march of development, a special law will be promulgated for the Council of Oman and it will define its roles, prerogatives and mechanisms of functioning.
