MUSCAT : His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Oman’s Minister of Health will take the first shot of the coronavirus vaccine on December 27, following which people on priority list including frontline workers would receive it.
“As I personally believe in the safety of the vaccine, I will be the first to take the shot in the Sultanate. From Sunday morning the vaccination campaign will begin and there will be media coverage keeping up with the event,” Al Saidi said.
Oman will begin the vaccination drive on December 27 and according to the Minister more than 15,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech will arrive in the country on December 24. “15,600 doses of vaccine will arrive on Thursday,” he added.

In the first stage, the target groups include most vulnerable to contracting the virus, which include frontline workers, people with chronic diseases and elderly.
