MUSCAT : Oman’s expat population has significantly dropped to 300,000 in the last two years, according His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al-Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
According to the E-Census 2020, the total expat population in the country now stands at 1,739,692. “The accuracy of the data in the electronic census is great, and we have witnessed a remarkable decrease in the number of expats during the last two years, by about 300,000,” Al Barwani said during the press conference.
Meanwhile, Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior has pointed out that the electronic census is considered the first core component towards the complementation and integration of government and private sector data.

This electronic setup will enable the database users to obtain highly accurate and detailed information that is updatable online, thus contributing efficiently to development plans in a manner that fits with Oman Vision 2040.
