MUSCAT : Veteran journalist Yaqoub bin Yousef Al Zadjali, one of the pioneers of Oman television broadcasting died on Monday, sources close to his family informed.
Yaqoub was considered one of the founders of sports journalism on Oman TV. In 1974, he worked with the Ministry of Information and Culture as its director and presenter for many sports and political programs. In 1993, he was awarded the Youth Shield and was the torch bearer of the Olympic Games that was held in China in 2008. Yaqoub is also the author of “Omani Sports from Roots to the World” and “Sultanate of Oman TV, a journey and achievement”.
