Number of expats in Oman increased by 113% in 10 years, says Minister of Interior

MUSCAT: The number expatriates in Oman has increased by 113 per cent in the last 10-years, His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior said on Monday.

Speaking at the press conference, Al Busaidi who is also the Chairman of the Supreme Committee was revealing the details of the E-Census 2020 which was approved by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.

As per the E-Census 2020, the total population in the Sultanate stands at 4,471,148 of which 2,731,456 are Omanis and 1,739,692 are expats.

“There has been a 40% increase in the number of Omani citizens during the last 10 years compared to the population census in 2010 and a 113% rise in expat population in 10 years,” he added.
