Visa-free entry to 103 countries will help recover Oman’s tourism sector, says Minister

MUSCAT: HE Salim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism has appreciated the government’s decision to exempt 103 country nationals from entry visas to the Sultanate for a period of ten days.

“We appreciate the decision to exempt 103 citizens from entry visas to Oman. This decision was taken in accordance with all parties,” he said.

According to the Minister, the decision will a big boost to Oman’s tourism sector. “This is a great step which would steadily recover our tourism sector,” Al Mahrouqi added.

The impact of coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has severely affected Oman’s tourism sector, with over half a billion Omani Rials ($1.3 billion) lost until September 2020. The loses includes visa revenues, tourists’ spending in local market, taxes related to the tourism industry, operations of national airline Oman Air, cruises, exhibitions and conferences, programs and tours, and goods and products.
