New COVID-19 safety rules announced for Oman hotels

MUSCAT: Hotels across Oman have new guidelines to follow to ensure they operate safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

The guidelines were issued by Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and apply to all hotels across the country. The rules are designed to ensure the safety and well being of guests and staff

Following are the guidelines issued by the Ministry.

  1. Hotel rooms are allowed to operate at 100% capacity while adhering to the precautionary measures to prevent COVID-19.
  2. Banquet and conference halls are allowed only 50% capacity.
  3. Sports and recreational facilities of all kinds will be allowed to operate for visitors and customers while following the precautionary measures.
  4. While serving food and beverages, open buffet has been allowed while adhering to the precautionary measures, as well as the use of multi-use utensils and dishes while ensuring that they are sterilized, cleaned well and kept at a high temperature.

“Hotel establishments must follow these guidelines to avoid any legal accountability,” Ministry added.
