MUSCAT: In line with the bank’s commitment to community development and promoting Oman as a sporting nation, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, recently inaugurated 3 football fields as part of its Green Sports programme to teams in the Governorate of South Al Batinah. The bank celebrated the official opening of the Al Ogdah Sports Team’s Green Sports Field in the Wilayat of Barka. The event was held in the presence of Hamad Salem Al Malki, Team Manager, and Adnan Ahmed Al Balushi, Assistant Regional Manager – South Batinah, Bank Muscat.
The bank also celebrated the opening of the Al Ahli Sports Team’s stadium in the Wilayat of Rustaq in the presence of Khalifa Salem Al Muqbali, Team Secretary, and bank officials. A third field was handed over recently to the Al Mazahith Sports Team in Rustaq. The event in Rustaq was attended by Salem Sulaiman Al Salmani, Team Manager and senior bank officials. Project completion certificates were handed over to the respective teams at all the three events, which were organised in full compliance with social distancing norms.
Bank Muscat continues to hand-over more Green Sports fields to teams across the country as part of its efforts to support Omani youth and local communities. The bank has so far provided support to 123 sports teams across different governorates since the launch of the programme in 2012.

Adnan Ahmed Al Balushi, Assistant Regional Manager – South Batinah, Bank Muscat congratulated the teams for their excellent partnership in successfully completing the respective fields. Bank Muscat has been a pioneer in corporate social responsibility and the Green Sports programme has been a flagship of the bank’s CSR programmes. Green Sports Fields play an excellent role in enhancing the capabilities of team members and will no doubt contribute to further build Omani human resources in the field of sports. Adnan Al Balushi said that the bank would continue to support teams across the country in line with its efforts to promote sustainable development.
He added that the programme provided an excellent means to channelise the energy and talents of the youth in a productive way, besides helping local communities develop stronger bonds and a greater spirit of cooperation. It must be noted that the facilities provided under the programme are used not only by the teams, but also by the local communities that they are based in. There is no doubt that it is contributing to the emergence of more Omani talent in football and also has a positive impact on the environment. Importantly, it is building a pipeline of talented players who can represent the country at all levels in the future.
Recently, the bank announced that applications for the 2021 edition of Green Sports programme will be accepted till 6 January 2021. The bank’s longest running CSR programme will support the development of 15 football fields in Oman in its landmark 10th year. All teams planning to apply for Green Sports support should note that applications will be accepted only online. The registration process is user-friendly and can be easily completed using a computer, a mobile phone or a tablet.
