MUSCAT: If you’re planning your trip to Oman next year, don’t think twice. The Sultanate has been named among the safest and risk-free travel destinations in the world.

According to global medical and security specialists International SOS, Oman has been ranked among the safest countries to travel in 2021. The robustness of the transport infrastructure, the state of industrial relations, the effectiveness of the security and emergency services, social unrest, violence, petty crime and
the country’s susceptibility to natural disasters were also taken into account when rating each country, International SOS said.

In June, Numbeo, the world’s largest internet database also ranked Oman the fifth safest country in the world, while the capital Muscat also figures among the cities with the lowest crime rates. Oman was ranked 58 among 140 countries in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2019 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index.
