MUSCAT : Cinema halls in the country will reopen to 50 per cent capacity starting today (December 1), the Supreme Committee said.
Authorities on Monday said they can now welcome cinema-goers again by adhering to the coronavirus protocols.
Meanwhile, Muscat Municipality issued a set of guidelines for cinema halls in the country to follow.

Following are the guidelines to be followed:
- Train all workers with procedures related to safety,sterilisation and social distancing
- Install social distancing floor stickers to delineate personal boundaries and create physical space between customers.
- Set the necessary guidance to delineate personal boundaries and create physical space between individuals (2m)
- Provide disinfectant containing atleast 70% alcohol in all cinema facilities.
- Limit the number of customers to 50% capacity only.
- Conduct health checks for workers regularly.
- Ensure safe distance between customers at the ticket windows with just one queue.
- Encourage customers to use electronic booking system for tickets & meals.
- Turn off all self-service touchscreen ticketing machine
- Comply with hygiene and sterilisation standards established by other competent authorities.
- Measure the body temperature of people before entry, and exclude those with temperature above 37C or show symptoms of sickness.
- Require all people , workers, customers and visitors to wear face masks.
- Document the disinfection operation in a record with the disinfectant being mentioned.
- Leave atleast 15 minutes between films so not to cause congestion at the main entrance.
- Serve food and. beverages in disposable single use cans and packaging in small sizes to avoid sharing as much as possible.
- Reorganize the seats at the reception area to social distancing
- Avoid distributing publications and brochures for shows and films
- Increase the frequency of claening and disinfection of common surfaces using appropriate materials focus on the following :
1) Door handles , stairs and lifts
2) Reception and ticket purchase areas
3)Ticket machines
4)Meal sale area
5)Seats (after each show)
6)Restrooms
