MUSCAT: Oman on Sunday condemned the killing of Iran’s top scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.
The statement issued by Oman TV comes after Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi spoke to his Iranian counterpart Javed Zarif over phone. Sayyid Badr condemned the “heinous murder and extended the Sultanate’s condolences to the government of Iran and the family of the deceased.”
Fakhrizadeh, who headed research and innovation at the defense ministry, was attacked Friday in Damavand county near Tehran. Assailants reportedly exploded a vehicle ahead of Fakhrizadeh and fired at his vehicle, wounding him and others with him.

The wounded were rushed to a hospital where Fakhrizadeh died from injuries sustained.
