Embassy to issue Emergency Certificates in Oman for Indians without valid passport

MUSCAT :As part of the exit scheme introduced by the government of Oman, the Indian embassy in Muscat has urged its citizens who do not possess valid passport to apply for ‘Emergency Certificates (EC) which can be applied free or charge.

In a statement issued, the embassy said the EC application fee, ICWF charges and BLS service fee will be waived off for those applicants who do not have means to pay these fees.

“Should any applicant so desire, they can avail of form filling, photographpreparation and SMS services from BLS (optional) at a total cost not exceeding OMR 2,” embassy said.

Indian Citizens who wish to avail this facility may please follow the guidelinesgiven below: 

i. Register in Ministry of Labour (MOL) portal as per the guidelines issued by MoL and Embassy ofIndia.

ii. After getting approval (Approval will be shown as – ‘WAITING FORCOMPLETION OF DEPORTATION) from MoL, the individual can approach BLSMain office in Muscat or its collection centers (Global Money Exchange offices inSalalah, Nizwa, Duqm, Sur, Sohar, Ibri, Buraimi, Shinas and Khasab) during thenormal working hours to apply for Emergency Certificate with an Undertaking(Annexure-A), Original expired/damaged/Lost passport/EC or its copy and twolatest passport size photographs.

iii. In order to avoid crowding at the collection centers in the nine locationsmentioned above, the social workers are hereby authorized to submit theapplications in bulk at the collection center after getting the signatures of theindividuals verified by Honorary Consular Agents of that area.iv. Emergency Certificate will be issued in 3-4 working days depending on the number of applications.

v. In case of any query/clarification/further documentation, Embassy will contact the applicant directly.

vi. This facility can be availed during Amnesty period only i.e. till 31st December 2020.
