MUSCAT: Government revenues will now be collected using smartphones, Ministry of Finance said in a circular on Tuesday.
In a statement issued to the media, Ministry of Finance (MOF) said the decision has been taken to facilitate and speed up completion of transactions and enhance the efficiency of revenue collection. According to the Ministry, all government institutions have been directed to accelerate the application process.”MOF has issued a circular (No. 22/2020) on collecting Government revenue through smartphones,” Ministry said.
“All Ministries and Government units are directed to accelerate the application process of collecting Government revenue through mobile payment system by using banking services applications and e-wallets, in coordination with the banks dealing with the Ministries and Government units,” the statement added.
