MUSCAT : Expatriates with expired work permits have been urged to make use of the exit scheme and leave the country without paying any fines before December 31.
Speaking exclusively to The Arabian Stories (TAS), a top official at Ministry of Labour said the response to the exit scheme has been overwhelming. “The registration process is going on in full-swing and the response from those who want to exit the country has been good but what I would like to request to those with expired visas and work related documents to make use of this scheme so that they can leave the country without the need of paying fines,” the official said.
More than 7,500 expats have registered with the Ministry of Labour to leave the country. Meanwhile, Pakistan Embassy is now working seven-days a week to assist the citizens with consular services. “We request our citizens with expired documents to utilise the exit scheme. Our embassy is now opened 7-days for this purpose,” K.K. Ahsan Wagan, Ambassador of Pakistan informed TAS.
Indian Embassy have also urged its nationals to avail the scheme. “This is an opportunity for those with expired visas to avail the scheme. They can also consult the embassy in case of expired passports,” an official from the embassy added.
