Travelling is one of the sure ways of enjoying the simple pleasures of life but you need to ensure your trips are hassle-free, you reach the destination safe and sound and get back to your base with fond memories, and not with nightmares.

Travel agencies are the first stop of that journey to places known and unknown, and the services they promise to deliver and actually provide could make or break your dream.

“Making your travel always pretty and comfortable is our forte. What we have always done over the years is to leave a mark on your memory so that you can cherish those travel moments. That is our success,” says T. Mohammed Harris who set up Al Hind Travel and Tours close to 25-years ago.

Today, Al Hind Group has over 120 branches in India and GCC and 15,000 sub-agents worldwide that serves as a “coordinating point” for all travel requirements of individual passengers and corporate clients.

“When we started Al Hind in 1993, Calicut, the place I hail from, lacked established travel agencies and I used to often hear from people their travel woes. “

“I always felt that when a passenger books a ticket with you it’s your responsibility to serve him and take care of him till he reaches his destination. The traveller should feel a sense of comfort and till this day Al Hind has been offering that.”

In the initial days of his company the soft-spoken Haris never realised that he was taking baby steps towards building a highly successful enterprise.
He has had ups and downs in his endeavour ever since they started operations but that never deterred him from going ahead with his plans. “We started Al Hind from a single-room and yes frankly I never thought we would reach this far,” he recalls with a smile.

Al Hind has spread its wings over the years, establishing footprint in various sectors. “The capacity to challenge the fares offered by any of our competitors is our USP,” Haris stresses.

Thousands of passengers got stranded when countries around the world, including Oman, closed borders to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Al Hind was one among the first in the world that came forward to helping people in those difficult situations by organising charter flights.

“From Oman itself we had organised 80 charters, especially to the Indian subcontinent, during this pandemic. We were the first to start from the GCC region and the others followed later. We organised almost 400 flights from GCC,”Haris says. Al Hind Group is currently valued at INR4,000 crore and Haris says more than 50 per cent of the company’s profit is given for charity. “We never bother about profit making. First and foremost, we are working for the benefit of the society and hence whatever our profits we give it back to society,” Haris adds.

“In the coming months we will be supporting Oman’s local community more and will be promoting the tourism in the country,” Harris says.
Al Hind is investing further in the Omani market and expanding in the Africa region in the coming months. “We will be investing more in the Omani market…in the coming months you will see more branches opening across the country. We are also investing and expanding in Africa as well. Our mission is to serve the people and we are doing just that from day one,” Haris says.
