Nine-day mega educational and career guidance event Avenir begins in Oman

MUSCAT: The much-awaited 2020 edition of Avenir, hosted by Indian School Muscat began on Friday.

Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, India’s Minister of Education inaugurated the event via video conference. The nine-day mega event is being held virtually in the light of the pandemic.

Dr. Ramesh highlighted salient features of National Education Policy 2020. He also conveyed the greetings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the people of Oman on the occasion 50th National Day and thanked the Government of Oman for their constant support to Indian community in Oman.

Manoj Ahuja IAS, Chairman, CBSE, and His Excellency Shri Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman was Guests of Honour on the occasion. 

Across the nine-day event, a wide range of topics on different careers will be covered in Avenir by subject experts: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Banking and Finance, Insights into the UN and Civil Services, Neurosciences, Robotics, Fashion Designing, Defense Services, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Aviation, Sports, Digital Media, Law, Music, Agriculture, Rural Management, Visual Arts, Media Literacy and Public Relations. 

Another highlight of the event is the presence of International universities; the Vice Chancellors, Professors and Representatives of over 60 Universities across the globe will conduct webinars on unique courses available in their respective universities and prospects of pursuing these courses to meet the challenges of the 21st century. 

This programme is expected to be attended by over twenty thousand senior students of grades VIII and above from all the 21 Indian Schools in Oman, their parents, the faculty, including two thousand teachers, in addition to invited dignitaries, school managements, and other well-wishers of the schools.
