Honorable Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish is one of the principal shareholders of Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC, a major business house contributing to the growth of the Sultanate’s economy. She has the unique distinction of straddling the world of business and the realm of government with equal felicity. Her unmatched business acumen and insights have catapulted her to multiple honorary positions across business organizations and economic institutions.
At Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC, Hon. Lujaina is actively involved in the strategic and operational aspects of the business. She heads the Human Resources and Training department, which is also responsible for the group’s “Omanization” strategy in order to increase the percentage of Omanis in its workforce.
At the other end of the spectrum, she has played a larger social role in Oman as an active contributor to public life. Honorable Lujaina was one of the seven women to be elected to the country’s consultative council- Majlis A’ Shuraa. Hon. Lujaina Mohsin Darwish has been elected twice to this honorary position from the Wilayat of Muscat and was appointed as a member of the State Council by Royal Decree in November 2015. She is presently a member of the esteemed Council.
Honorable Lujaina Mohsin Darwish is an acknowledged international thought leader. She is one of the flag-bearers of Omani Women power, blazing her own trail and helping in inspiring, uplifting and empowering aspiring Omani women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders alike.
She continues to contribute her might in the Social, Cultural and Business landscape, holding important positions such as Honorary President of Oman-China Friendship Association and member of the GCC Women Forum. She has been actively involved at International forum to understand and coordinate the development efforts of Women and Children internationally and particularly in the Arab World. She has served on the Board of the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Board of the Omani Center for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa Oman).
She won the ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award in 2001 and the ‘Flame of Excellence’ award in 2002. She was nominated as Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2005 amongst leaders around the world Honorable Lujaina has proudly represented Oman & GCC Women at various Global & Regional Summits in Muscat, Geneva, Dubai & Sweden. In 2018, she spoke at the WTO public forum-Geneva, on “Leadership beyond the veil” and the significance of Omani women leaders and has addressed the Opening plenary as a key note speaker at the IRU World Congress 2018 in Muscat.
During 2018, she added the Middle East Women Leader Award by the World HRD Congress & “Hall of Fame” by Al Mar’a Excellence, to her list of prestigious awards and achievements. She is recipient of “Businesswoman of the year 2020” by Middle East Stevie Awards and Women of the year 2020 by International Stevie Awards. Her main objective is to form a distinct committee to provide Omani women entrepreneurs a podium to create business prospects and develop leadership skills.
She is always on the lookout for opportunities to mentor and encourage young Omani women to accomplish their vision of becoming successful entrepreneurs in various sectors. She is married and blessed with three adorable daughters and fares to strike the right balance in managing successful personal and professional life with an extremely supportive spouse, family members and workplace team. She has a philanthropic impulse and some real interest in volunteering. During her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling with the family.
