MUSCAT : A court in Oman has issued a ruling against a manpower recruitment agency and shutdown the office after it breached the consumer protection law.
The Court of First Instance in Seeb also ordered one year imprisonment of the recruitment agency owner and fined OMR 2,000 against the accused after it received several complaints from the customers.
The accused not only breached the contracts but also refused to refund customers who paid to help them hire workers via the agency.

“The consumers reported that they had entered into a contract with the recruitment office but the office violated contracts with them to bring in workers during the agreed period. Due to his lack of commitment to transparency and credibility with consumers and for violating the Consumer Protection Law in Article, the Department referred the complaints to the Public Prosecution which took the necessary measures,” the statement from the Consumer Protection Authority said.
