MUSCAT : Expatriates whose work permits have expired can leave the country “for good” and will be exempted from paying any fees and fines, Ministry of Labour said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued, the Ministry said expatriates and their employers can make use of the fine waiver from November 15 to December 31, 2020. “Employers and workers are exempted from all fees and fines arising from work permits provided that they leave the Sultanate for good,” the statement said.
The Ministry also asked expat workers with expired passports to consult their respective embassies to renew their travel documents. “They should also visit the Labour office at Muscat airport to complete the departure procedures, taking the travel documents, travel tickets and PCR test results as well as committing to the requirements of their destination country,” the statement said.

“Employers should update their data, whoever have any claims should provide evidence to the specialized authorities within a week from the date of publishing the data of foreign workers who are wishing to leave on the ministry’s website,” the statement added.
