Nearly 700,000 students in Oman begin new school year

MUSCAT : Nearly 700,000 students will start new school year with a mix of classroom and online learning from today.

This comes after the Supreme Committee allowed schools to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Education, a total of 676,943 students from government and private schools will begin blended education in more than 1,000 schools across the country.

“82 percent of schools will implement an e-learning system, while 10 percent will follow blended education, and 7 percent will have full attendance in schools,” said Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Education.

School hours for students in Grades 1-4 will be between 11 am and 2 pm, Grades 5-11 between 8 am and 11 am, and for Grade-12, between 8 am and 2 pm.
