Manpower recruitment agency in Muscat shut down, owner sentenced to jail

MUSCAT : A court has ordered to permanently close a manpower recruitment office in Seeb and sentenced its owner to jail and fined OMR 2,000 for violating the Consumer Protection law.

In a statement issued, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said the court issued the verdict after it received several complaints from customers against the company.

“The company violated the contractual agreement signed with the customers at the time of recruiting domestic workers. The company refused to respond to the complaints and violated Article (23) of Consumer Protection Law,” the statement from CPA said.
