MUSCAT: A court in North Al Sharqiyah convicted eight people for violating the Infectious Diseases Control Law, Oman’s Public Prosecution said on Wednesday.
In a statement issued, Public Prosecution (PP) said “all accused has been sentenced to three months in prison of which one month will be executed.” Meanwhile, the first and the second accused received a fine of OMR 2,000, while the others received a fine of OMR 1,000 and their phones were seized by the authorities.
According to PP, the incident happened on May 10 the eight accused were caught after they illegally gathered in a rest house in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
