MUSCAT : A court in Muscat Governorate ordered a travel agency to pay OMR 1,000 in penalties and send its owner to one month in prison after they violated the Consumer Protection law.
In a statement issued, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said the court took the verdict after the travel agency misled the consumer.
“A complaint was received from a consumer stating that he had reserved five return tickets to travel from Muscat to Amman, but the travel agency reserved only one-way tickets. When the consumer enquired about baggage limit, he was informed that only one-way tickets had been booked. This forced the consumer to book tickets from another travel agency,” CPA said in a statement.
