We will publish names and photos of COVID-19 violators soon: Royal Oman Police

MUSCAT: Oman will begin naming and shaming of coronavirus violators soon, a top Royal Oman Police official said on Thursday.

Brigadier Said Al Asmi, Director General of Operations at ROP said after the legal procedures are completed the names and photos of the violators will be published in various media outlets soon. “The names and photos of the violators will be published in various media outlets in accordance with the legal procedures in the coming days,” he said.

Al Asmi also asked the violators to expedite in paying the fines. “We would like to ask the violators to pay the fines immediately or else we will have to transfer it to the Public Prosecution,” he informed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health said publishing the names of violators have led to reduction in violations in some countries. “According to the experiences by some countries, publishing the names and pictures of the violators have contributed to the reduction of violations and it raises people’s commitment to the procedures more than the fines,” Al Saidi added.
