MUSCAT : Oman is not witnessing a second wave of coronavirus, according to a top Ministry of Health official.

“The cases have increased but that does not mean we are witnessing a second wave of the virus,” said Dr. Khalid Al Balushi, Assistant Director at the Covid-19 field hospital in an interview with Oman TV.

According to Al Balushi, the opening of the field hospital has reduced the burden on other hospitals in the country. “This has certainly helped hospitals to provide other services to patients,” he said.

“The field hospital does not receive cases directly, but rather those transferred from other health institutions, according to certain procedures,” Al Balushi added.
