Night movement ban begins in Oman today

MUSCAT : The night movement ban imposed by the Supreme Committee will come into effect across the country from today (Sunday, October 11).

According to the Supreme Committee, all public places including shops and commercial activities must be closed daily from 8pm till 5am starting from today until October 24. Oman has seen a surge in coronavirus cases including deaths in the last few weeks.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution has confirmed that it will deal firmly against those violating the Supreme Committee decisions.

In the last few weeks, the Royal Oman Police has arrested several people for illegally gathering in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

Mohammed bin Saeed Al Yahya, the Assistant Public Prosecutor said anyone violating the law will be punished.‎ “The Public Prosecution will deal firmly with the violators,” he said.

He also asserted that the names and photos of those violating the Supreme Committee decisions will be published in various media outlets.
