Oman is your country, and you’re our dear brother: Minister tells expat patient admitted in Covid isolation ward

MUSCAT : His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health has reassured an expat patient who is admitted in Covid-19 isolation ward in Sur Hospital to consider the Sultanate as his own country.

In a video that went viral on social media, Al Saidi can be heard talking to the patient from Kuwait and wishing him a speedy recovery: “Oman is your country and you’re our dear brother. The late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Sabah always loved the Sultanate and we loved him too. We are with you and we wish you a speedy recovery,” Al Saidi said.

The Kuwaiti patient was admitted in the newly opened Sur isolation ward due to coronavirus. The Sur isolation ward funded by Oman LNG as part of its contribution to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, at a cost of RO 761,000.

Built on a 838-sq metre land, the isolation ward contains 12 dedicated isolation rooms equipped with advanced ventilators so that the patients won’t need to be transferred to other locations to receive treatment.
