MUSCAT: As a lasting tribute, Kuwait has named a major road in the country after the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, a statement issued by the Kuwait’s Council of Ministers said.

The decision to rename the Seventh Ring Road as “Qaboos bin Said” comes after orders from
Kuwait Emir His Highness Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.

According to media reports from Kuwait, the Emir who shared a special friendship with Arab world’s longest served ruler, has asked the cabinet to rename the road.

“Based on the supreme orders of His Highness the Emir to rename one of the major roads in the name of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said comes in appreciation of the important role that the late His Majesty played and the efforts he exerted in supporting the march of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the issues of the Arab and Islamic nations,” the statement from the Council of Ministers said.
