MUSCAT : Oman’s Duqm spaceport has completed its second successful rocket launch, sending the Azad Dreamer on a controlled test flight as part of the Karman X1 mission.
The 4.3-metre rocket, weighing 26 kg, transmitted flight data to the mission control centre. The test assessed launch procedures, flight performance and onboard technologies and systems, rather than attempting to reach space.
The launch follows the Duqm-1 mission in December 2024 and is part of the Formation programme, established that year to support suborbital and experimental rocket launches.

The mission involved Oman-based Stellar Kinetics MCT, Singapore’s OculloSpace and Australia’s Orbit2Orbit, which supplied a payload carried aboard the rocket.
Officials said the mission would help build Omani expertise in launch operations, strengthen international partnerships and advance the country’s commercial launch capabilities.
Supported by Oman’s National Space Programme under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Duqm spaceport aims to attract investment and develop the country’s space industry.
