MUSCAT: Oman has welcomed a ceasefire announcement in Libya.
In a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The Sultanate welcomes the declarations issued by the President of the Libyan Presidency Council and the Speaker of Parliament to ceasefire and military operations. The Sultanate hopes that this step will lead to a comprehensive national dialogue that fulfills the aspirations of the Libyan people.”
“The Sultanate calls on all to seize this opportunity to work seriously to reach a comprehensive and lasting peaceful solution to the Libyan issue,” the statement added.

Libya’s warring rival administrations announced separately on Friday that they would cease all hostilities and hold nationwide elections, drawing praise from the UN, the EU and several Arab countries.
