MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued a Royal Decree establishing the Job Security Fund that aims to protect the citizens particularly those Omanis who were terminated from jobs.

According to the Government Communication Centre (GC), His Majesty has donated OMR 10 million to the Job Security Fund. “This will provide social security for those Omanis who are terminated from employment,” the statement from GC said.

Both public and private sector will fund the initiative along with the employees. “A staff has to contribute OMR 1 of out of each OMR 100 from his salary towards this scheme,” the statement said.

According to GC, the first phase of the scheme will begin on November 2020 and will support those terminated from the service. The second phase is expected to be implemented after three years to support the job seekers.
