MUSCAT: Solar energy is a renewable source of energy that is gaining ground because of the benefits it offers. 10 houses in Muscat Governorate now operate with the help of solar energy, the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) said on Sunday.
According to MEDC, the number of houses that will be powered by solar energy will rise to 36 by the end of 2020.
“Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC), – one of the Nama Group companies – recently examined and installed solar energy in a number of homes, bringing the total number of houses powered by solar energy in Muscat to 10, and the number is expected to rise to 36 by the end of 2020,” MEDC said in a statement.

“Individuals and institutions wishing to connect their solar systems to produce electricity either individually or for commercial or industrial purposes can seek the assistance of MEDC,” the statement added.
