MUSCAT: More than 60,000 stranded Indians have flown home in the last four months, a top Indian Embassy official said on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories, the official said 62,000 Indians have been repatriated from Oman since May 9. “The total number includes Vande Bharat Mission flights and charter flights by various social organisations as well as corporate companies,” the official said.
Many who have left the country include medical emergency cases, pregnant women and those who lost jobs and in distress. “I lost my job two months back and waited to get travel approval to return to India. Finally, I am back in Kerala. I look forward to return to Oman if I get a new job soon,” said Ramesh Balagopal, who was working with an Engineering firm in Muscat.
