MUSCAT: The number of consumer complaints made in Oman dropped by 19 per cent in the first half of 2020, new figures show.

Officials said only 5,640 grievances were registered with the Public Authority for Consumer Protection. “The Public Authority for Consumer Protection recorded a decrease in the number of complaints submitted by the consumers till the first half of the current year 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year 2019. Figures by the General Directorate of Studies and Development indicated that the number of complaints reached 5640, compared with during the first half of 2019,” the statement from PACP said.

“The decrease in the complaints is due to increased awareness among traders and suppliers of the Consumer Protection Law and regulations and decisions issued by the Authority,” the statement added.
