MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) registered only a limited number of violations during the Eid Al Adha nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.

In a statement issued, ROP said the most notable violation was of not wearing the face masks during the lockdown period. Oman closed all governorates from July 25 to August 8, while the Supreme Committee extended the movement ban with revised timing from 9pm to 5am until August 15.

During the Eid Al Adha holidays, ROP stepped up monitoring to prevent gatherings as part of its efforts aimed at reducing the coronavirus cases.

ROP thanked citizens and residents for cooperating and for complying with the precautionary measures and for respecting the decision of the Supreme Committee banning movement in the evening, and its decision to lockdown the governorates.
