No respite from COVID-19 in Oman; Cases continue to rise in Seeb, Barka

MUSCAT: There is almost no respite in Covid-19 infections in the country, as Oman recorded highest single-day spike of 1,889 on Friday.

Across all the governorates, the coronavirus cases continue to increase. The total infections registered in Muscat Governorate touched 32,060 after 892 new cases were reported. Total cases in North Al Batinah reached 6,279 after 180 people were diagnosed with the virus on Friday. Dhofar Governorate registered a total of 1,752 cases.

Meanwhile, with 391 cases, Seeb once again registered the highest number of infections in Muscat, followed by Baushar 191 and Wilayat Muttrah 102 cases.

In North Al Batinah, the total cases in Sohar reached 2,233 and Suwaiq has 1,501 total cases, while in South Al Batinah cases in Barka has touched 2,585 after 190 new cases were registered on Friday. Salalah alone registered 79 cases, taking the total tally to 1,447.

The total infections in the country now stand at 53,614 of which 34,225 have recovered.
