MUSCAT: As Oman will begin the national serological survey for coronavirus infection from July 12, the Ministry of Health on Tuesday clarified that it will directly contact both expatriates and citizens on phone for random sample testing.

MOH denied what is being circulated on social media that it will send messages to mobile numbers stating that they are invited for the survey.

“A WhatsApp message is being circulated that the Ministry of Health will select the owner of the phone number for collecting a random blood sample for #COVID19 is utterly devoid of truth,” MOH said in a statement.

“MOH will contact the person (both expat and Omanis) directly for survey. We would like everyone to rely on official channels for sources of information,” MOH added.

MOH had earlier informed that as part of the survey it will collect around 20,000 samples in 10 weeks.
