80% commercial activities resumed in Oman; Minister warns of stricter fines for Covid-19 violations

MUSCAT: Oman has reopened 80 percent of commercial activities in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, Ministry of Transport said on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ahmed Al Futaisi also said 100 percent of industrial activities have also resumed in the country.

Al Futaisi said stricter fines will be introduced against companies that are not following the health measures. “We are studying the idea of imposing stricter fines especially for those who are not complying with the precautionary measures including not wearing masks,” he said.

“100% of industrial activities have resumed and we have taken great efforts to improve the situation of these activities,” he added.
