MUSCAT: In the past three days Oman witnessed over 1,000 coronavirus cases being reported daily, however, the country has still not hit its peak of infections, according to a top Ministry of Health official.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosni said people continue to gather despite warnings, which has resulted in a spike in numbers. On Sunday, Oman saw the biggest single-day spike with 1,404 cases of which 1,004 are expatriates. “We are yet to reach the peak of infections,” he said.
“Social gatherings during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr resulted in a spike in cases. We are also seeing expat labour gatherings which is the reason why we are seeing more cases every day,” Al Hosni said.
