MUSCAT: More than 63 per cent work of Khazaen Economic City project has been completed as planned despite, the challenges and difficulties posed by coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic at local and global levels.
The first package of infrastructure works includes 10-km asphalt roads and 15-km rainwater drainage ducts, with 75% of these roads and culverts are completed, said the statement.
Other project tasks pertain to the setting up of water tanks and the construction of a water grid flanking the 21-km-long main supply line, of which 8 kilometres are completed. The rest of the water grid is being executed as planned.

The working team, of 100% Omani engineers, is supervising the first package of the project’s infrastructure with a view to ensuring that the project is executed as scheduled and in line with international criteria and formalities used in developing economic cities.
Omanisation has been one of the goals accorded attention by the executive administration of Khazaen. The drive seeks to empower Omani nationals in various fields of specialization and offer them opportunities to gain expertise in different areas.
Recently, the engineering team handed over surveyor flags to pioneering investors to enable them to commence mapping charts and technical designs for their projects and help them obtain the necessary approvals (licenses) prior to the start of construction works.
