Covid-19: Checkpoints in Wilayat Muttrah to continue, says ROP

Checkpoints in Darsait, Hamriyah, Muttrah and Al Wadi Al Kabir will continue.

MUSCAT: Muscat Governorate lockdown will be lifted on May 29 but checkpoints in Darsait, Hamriyah, Muttrah and Al Wadi Al Kabir will continue, as it comes under Wilayat Muttrah, which is still under sanitary isolation.

Speaking to The Arabian Stories, a senior Royal Oman Police official has clarified that these checkpoints will be in place as long as the Wilayat Muttrah isolation continue. “Ruwi, Muttrah, Hamriyah, Al Wadi Al Kabir and parts of Darsait comes under Wilayat Muttrah and since the sanitary isolation remains in place, the checkpoints will continue,” the ROP official said on Wednesday. 

“So those people who commute to work must carry relevant documents,” he added.

The Supreme Committee on Wednesday decided to lift the lockdown in Muscat Governorate on Friday, May 29. 

The committee has also decided to end the previous decision to exempt employees from attending the workplace in government agencies, and the return of at least 50% of them to exercising their duties from the workplace starting from 31 May 2020.
