MUSCAT: With cases increased in the last three days, Oman’s Minister of Health has advised private sector companies to take responsibility of their staff as more cases are now reported in labour camps.
“If you look at the cases in the last three days, it has gone up and most of it has come from labour camps and gatherings.
My message to the private sector companies is to please take responsibility of your workers. If you find people with symptoms, isolate them and ensure you send them for testing,” Minister said speaking to the media on Thursday.

“During our epidemiological investigation, we found 70 labourers staying in an apartment. This is worrisome,” he said.
According to Al Saidi, cases have gone up in one month. “Some people continue to gather during Ramadan especially during Iftar. We reported a case of a person who hosted an Iftar party. This must be stopped. A marriage ceremony was held with close to 150 people attending. If we need to keep this virus away, it has to be done collectively. Social distancing measures must be respected,” he added.
