MUSCAT: Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday said it is closely monitoring the salary deduction cases of some Omani employees in private sector companies in the wake of coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.
The statement from the Ministry comes after a message circulated on social media that said some companies have reduced the salaries of Omani employees by 50 per cent instead of 30 per cent. However, the Ministry said the Supreme Committee’s decision did not specify “on the percentage” for salary deduction.
“The ministry is following up on what was circulated regarding the salary deduction of Omani workforce by 50% instead of 30% due to the current conditions. The ministry would like to confirm that the statement of the Supreme Committee, did not specify the percentage,” the statement said.
