MUSCAT:
The pending CBSE Class 10, 12 board exams, which was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be held in July only in India and is not applicable to Indian schools in Oman, a senior Board of Directors (BOD) official said.

Many Indian school parents in Oman were confused after the government announced the new dates to conduct the pending exams.

However, speaking to The Arabian Stories on Friday, the BOD official confirmed that the pending exams are for students in India and that CBSE will not conduct “any more examinations” for class 10 and 12 students in Oman due to the coronavirus outbreak. “As informed earlier in April, these (exams) are not applicable for Indian school students in Oman. These pending examinations are for students in India,” the BOD official said.

What CBSE said in April?

Earlier, the Central Board for Secondary Examination (CBSE) Board had postponed the pending examinations till March 31 following Covid-19 pandemic across the globe but later decided to cancel the exams for the 25 counties outside India. In a statement issued in April, CBSE had said: “Each of these countries is also under lockdown and/or has decided to close down the schools for various and differential lengths of time. Under such circumstances, it is felt that the Board will not be in a position to hold a differential set of exams for each of these countries. Also, in the present situation, it will be difficult to bring the answer books to India for evaluation purposes,”

In Oman, all the Indian Schools are currently closed due to the Covid-10 outbreak but are conducting classes online.
