MUSCAT: As the Supreme Committee has allowed money exchange houses in the country to reopen amidst the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, top officials of the money exchange service providers have welcomed the decision.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories, Boban MP, Country Head of Unimoni Oman said all branches of Unimoni will be opened on Wednesday. “All the branches will start functioning from tomorrow onwards. Businesses will be carried out in compliance with all health requirements set by the concerned authorities,” he said.
As a first step to ease Covid-19 restrictions, the Supreme Committee headed by His Excellency Sayyid Hamood bin Faisal Al Busaidy, Minister of Interior on Tuesday decided to allow money exchange companies to resume their services along with few other commercial activities.

According to the decision, money exchange houses must allow only a maximum of two customers at a time and must comply all health requirements.
A huge relief
Global Money Exchange Co LLC, one among the leading money exchange provider will also open their branches in the Sultanate on Wednesday. “The decision from the Supreme Committee is welcoming,” said an official from Global Money Exchange. “It will be a huge relief to a lot of customers especially from countries India who are regularly sending money to their families back home,” he said. Global Money Exchange has 53 branches across Oman.
Asked about the safety measures taken by the firm, he said: “All our staff will be protected and our branches will be continuously sanitized. We will be following all measures. We also request customers to wear safety gears while coming to the branches,” he added.
Oman on Tuesday confirmed 82 new coronavirus cases, taking the total tally to 2,131.
